The UNICEF Internship Programme offers students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with UNICEF through global internship opportunities.

Interns at UNICEF get experiential learning opportunities in the humanitarian sector and a meaningful internship experience that will support their academic, professional and personal development.

What we offer

Our Internship Programme offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain direct practical work experience.

• Duration: The duration of an internship is normally between six and twenty-six weeks. Internships can be on a full-time or a part-time basis.

• Expenses we cover: UNICEF provides a monthly stipend to interns. A one-time lump sum, as a contribution towards travel and visa costs, may also be granted when funding is available.

• Visa: If necessary, UNICEF will provide relevant supporting documents for our visa applications.


Your profile could be a good fit if it meets the following requirements:

• At least 18 years old.

• Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or PhD programmeor have graduated within the past two years.

• Proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the office you are applying to, may also be required.

• Have no immediate relatives (e.g., mother, father, sister, brother) working with UNICEF, or any other relatives in your reporting line of authority.

• Have strong academic performance and motivation

• Additional consideration will be given to any professional experience relevant to the function you’re applying for.

#1. Intern (26 weeks, Geneva/remote): Design, Content and Campaign Management, Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships Section (PSFP), Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP)

The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships Section (PSFP) within the UNICEF Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices to maximize revenue and drive income growth. Inside PSFP, the Digital Fundraising team is implementing a new Digital Revenue Strategy to Inspire, Collaborate and Enable markets to improve their digital fundraising results.

The vision: become the largest and most successful non-profit digital fundraising program in the world.Virtual Hub – is a digital-first model for individual giving in global markets, consisting of core team of digital specialists driving acquisition, retention, and LTV – leading to end-to-end donor experience across 16 markets of UNICEF. Virtual Hub follows test, learn and scale approach through MVP of donation campaigns, fundraising features and content by early users which can then provide feedback for future iterations and product development..

#2. Internship: Resource Mobilization, UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia, Kathmandu, Nepal, 6 months

As part of its Education team, the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia is looking for an intern to support the regional resource mobilization efforts. Under the supervision of the Regional Education Adviser, the intern will gain direct practical experience with UNICEF’s work in donor/partner mapping, preparation of concept notes and funding proposals, as well as the developement of key materials in line with the team’s resource mobilization strategy for South Asia.

This internship will support the Digital Health & Information Systems (DHIS) Unit at UNICEF New York to carry out activities relating to a variety of global digital health projects during the second and third quarter of 2024.

#4. Internship 6 months: Data Analyst (Giga), Office of Innovation, Remote

We are seeking an intern to assist in various data analysis priorities of the Giga initiative, a joint partnership between UNICEF and ITU. The intern will collaborate with the Data & Mapping product team, Country engagement teams, as well as external partners to develop innovative products and data solutions for the Giga Initiative.
